Tedworth house is a grade 2 listed country house set in a beautiful country setting in Tidworth, Wiltshire. In 2010 the charity “Help for Heroes” began a refurbishment and new build programme converting the property into a “state of the art” recuperation centre for injured servicemen and women.
A request by the renowned architects, Quinlan & Francis Terry LLP to provide suitable door handles for each element of the project led to TBKS providing the whole ironmongery package. From an ironmongery perspective the project was split in two. Classic brass door and window furniture to the main house coupled with DDA stainless steel fittings to the newly built 3 storey wing + Phoenix centre. However our scope went way beyond a few door handles.
Across the whole project we initiated a new restricted master keyed system as well as a MI Fare access control system. CE Marked hinges and din lockcases in both brass and stainless steel. Dorma brass floorsprings installed in the great hall and Fireco standalone overhead closers to the new wing. Essential components necessary to provide easy access across the site.
Between 2011 - 2013 we delivered well over 100 doorsets packed into sturdy boxes marked with contents and door number. This simple call off process meant the site team gained trust in us and site visits by TBKS were kept to a minimum.
For us this was a privilege to be involved in the renaissance of one of our country’s national treasures.
